Mission Statement
The mission of the Newman Council is to lead and serve the Catholic Comunity and minister to the greater Penn Community by bearing witness to the fullness of God's mercy, love and truth. The Newman Council facilitates faith and leadership formation, builds a community of the faithful, and sponsors works of charity that affirm social justice. Through all of this, we share in the mission of Jesus Christ.
As the leadership body for undergraduate activities, the Newman Council meets weekly on Sundays at 8:45 pm in the Newman Center. All Catholic undergraduates at Penn are eligible to join the Council. The Newman Council is a community of leaders that consists of many members, but ten of those members have specific, ongoing officer positions on the Council. The Newman Council Executive Board consists of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. These students take office in January and remain in office for a full calendar year. They facilitate meetings, act as liaisons to the Newman Center professional staff, and provide general oversight and leadership for the undergraduate students involved with the Newman Center.

The Executive Committee of the Newman Council consists of the Executive Board and six appointed chairs of activities. Chairs of activities are appointed to a one-year term for each calendar year beginning in January.
