Are you interested in walking to 10:00 pm Mass each Sunday with other Catholic students? Newman will help coordinate people walking to Mass together, especially those of you who prefer not to walk across campus alone in the dark.

Don Guanella is a school for mentally challenged boys and young men. We will host the boys for lunch at Penn Newman and then go together to watch the Penn football game vs. Cornell. It’s a great time! Contact Karly Wirth (karlyw@nursing.upenn.edu) by November 10th if you are interested in volunteering to accompany them to the game. Also, a set-up/clean-up crew of several people will be needed for lunch. |

service opportunity: tutoring
Mondays, 3:00-5:15 pm
Annunciation BVM Church
South Philly
Grad students and undergrads are invited to this tutoring program for children from 1st through 4th grades on Mondays at Annunciation BVM Parish. The children are primarily Mexican immigrants who are just learning English, and consequently placed below grade level in local schools. The church needs more adults to work one-on-one or in small groups with the kids.

The National Catholic Student Coalition gathers students every year to explore our faith as Catholic college students, celebrate Eucharist and meet new people. Participants will hear keynote presentations, and engage in service projects, workshops, small group faith discussions and many other activities.
Under this year's theme, "Be the Voice," NCSC comes to the City of Brotherly Love! Several hundred college students from across the country will celebrate together and learn more about our faith and how we can be the voice of Catholic students in our communities, our nation, and our world. Weekly on Weekdays
Lea School and Wilson School
Time Commitment: 2 hours per week (M-F) on site around lunchtime. Responsibilities: Promote a more pleasant lunchroom and environment conducive to interactive play and fitness. Volunteers accomplish these goals through games, activities, and collaborative efforts for leadership development of Lea and Wilson students. Click here for more info. |

locks of love hair drive
From Now to April 2010
DO SOMETHING HAIR-OIC !!!!!!
Locks of Love is an organization that uses donated hair to create wigs for children who have suffered from an illness that results in hair loss. In April (date TBD) Penn Newman will be holding an event where we will have hair stylists from the area providing haircuts for anyone who is interested in donating 6 or more inches of hair to this wonderful cause! Spiritual mentoring is an opportunity to meet one-on-one with a professional minister to speak about your life, and your spiritual mentor is there to listen, to offer insight, and to help you discern where and how God is at work in your life.
