Founded in 1999 through the generosity and vision of Penn Alumnus Robert A. Fox (C '52), the mission of the Robert A. Fox Leadership Program is to enrich the 21st century Penn undergraduate educational experience in ways that excite and equip students for present and future leadership roles in whatever realms of human excellence and endeavor may call them.
The Robert A. Fox Leadership Program, which is located in the University's School of Arts and Sciences, provides two curricular contributions (Leadership Courses, 10-student recitations), three sets of Leadership Events (Forums, Leadership Lunches, Lessons in Leadership) and four types of Leadership Experiences (PowerSpeak, Civic Entrepreneurship, Symposia and service on the Student Steering Committee).
Former Penn President Judith Rodin told the members of the Fox Student Steering Committee in April 2003 that "It is truly remarkable what the Fox Leadership Program has accomplished in such a brief period...with your passion, with the passion you inspire in us, we want to build on all that has been accomplished...to go from excellence to leadership."
The Penn Newman Center and Fox Leadership have enjoyed several opportuities for collaboration and partnership. Fox Leadership has made significant contributions to Penn Newman's
service trips to the Gulf Coast region. Also, Fox and Newman have recently established a joint partnership with
Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA.
